Larger L3 cache in AMD "Shanghai" Processor
The Quad-Core AMD Opteron™ processor codenamed "Barcelona" introduced a unique on-die L3 cache for the first time. The new, enhanced Quad-Core AMD Opteron processor codenamed "Shanghai" further adds to the innovations by tripling the size of the L3 cache. AMD's first official OpenJDK contribution
AMD Java Labs' first official OpenJDK contribution has been accepted and released in OpenJDK build 1.7.0-ea-b29 32-bit JVM. This contribution is an optimization designed to improve performance of bitwise left shift operations.

Just Released: AMD Core Math Library v4.2.0
- New features in v4.2.0 include:
- Further optimized DGEMM for better performance, and requiring less memory bandwidth
- Improved 3D Complex-Complex FFT routines with significantly reduced work space requirements

- Updated version of GFORTRAN to 4.3.2

Now available: Official Release of AMD CodeAnalyst for Linux v2.8
This new release includes support for performance monitoring events provided by the AMD Family 10h revision 4 processor, a new mode for the Instruction Based Sampling mechanism (IBS-Op dispatched-op count), and an AMD DiffAnalyst Tool. It also adds Basic Block Analysis and In-line Function Analysis features, and allows up to 32 performance counters to be configured for a single profile with event multiplexing.

New Demo: March of the Froblins
The Froblins demo is designed to showcase many of the new techniques for character-centric entertainment made possible by the massively parallel compute available on the ATI Radeon HD 4800 GPU series. In our large-scale environment with thousands of highly detailed, intelligent characters, the Froblins (frog goblins), are concurrently simulated, animated and rendered entirely on the GPU.

New Video: AMD & Red Hat Demo Live Migration Across Vendor Platforms
Live migration enables the movement of running virtual machines (VMs) from one physical server to another without disrupting service to the end user, something that, till now, has only been demonstrated across systems based on one vendor's platforms. This live migration demonstration moves a live VM from an dual socket Intel Xeon DP Quad Core E5420-based system to a system based on the 45nm Quad-Core AMD Opteron™ processor, utilizing Red Hat's high-performance open source virtualization softwar.
