See how DDR2 memory stacks up against FBDIMM in this new power efficiency benchmark
AnandTech published a new review of the AMD Opteron™ processors operating at 3.2GHz (120W) and 3.0GHz (95W) compared to Intel processors. The review concludes that AMD Opteron processors with DDR2 compare favorably, and a few key takeaways from this third-party evaluation are that FBDIMM memory has less bandwidth and higher latency and runs much hotter than DDR2.

New IBM/SAP benchmark

In today's cutthroat business world, it pays to have an advantage. IBM SWG has just published a very impressive SAP 2-tier SD benchmark result on AMD Opteron processor-based IBM System x3755 running VMware VI3 2VCPU. The result of 445 SD users on the IBM System x3755 DB2 9 powered by AMD Opteron processors is the Best 2 core VM result published thus far. It beats the Intel Quad-Core benchmark by more than 10% and shows the advantage of AMD in a virtualized environment.
